HUB MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: MARTIN GILL

“Built to Push the Limits”

“HUB is more than just a team or a community - it’s a family. It gave me the tools to grow on the bike and in everyday life, and I value the people here more than anything. Surrounded by smart, kind, and inspiring individuals who truly want everyone to succeed, I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I am deeply thankful to the members, coaches, and friends who bring this community to life.” - Martin Gill

From Beginner Mountain Biker to EF Education-ONTO

Big dreams often start with small goals. For Martin Gill, one of those goals was hitting 30 mph on a road bike.

Martin's cycling journey began with HUB Youth Cycling as a beginner mountain biker. Road cycling wasn't initially his favorite, but that changed when he challenged himself to reach 30 mph. Once he hit that milestone, something clicked - and a new passion for speed, competition, and pushing his limits began.

This past summer, Martin was selected to represent USA Cycling as part of a U.S. team competing in a series of kermesse races in Belgium. Building on that international racing experience, Martin has also signed with EF Education-ONTO, an exciting next step that opens new doors for his continued development and opportunities to compete at the highest levels of national and international cycling.

There wasn’t one master plan connecting every step. There were rides, relationships, service opportunities, and challenges. There was a young rider who discovered something he loved and decided to see where it could lead.

And there was that 30-mph goal.

But Martin's story is about much more than racing.

Throughout his time with HUB, Martin has embraced opportunities to ride, serve, and lead. From participating in Monday evening service rides with the Urban Bicycle Food Ministry to mentoring younger cyclists as a HUB summer and winter camp counselor, he's consistently given back to the community that helped him grow. He's even spent countless hours behind the scenes helping organize HUB's bikes, equipment, and resources.

Through HUB, Martin discovered new cycling opportunities, including road rides at Cornelia Fort Park and the Music City Criteriums. With continued dedication and guidance from performance coach Kyle Tiesler, he transformed his passion into an opportunity to compete at the next level.

What makes Martin's journey especially meaningful isn't just how far he's come on the bike, but how he's continued to give back along the way.

His story is a reminder of what happens when young people are given opportunities to explore, discover their strengths, and become part of a supportive community.

HUB is proud of Martin’s accomplishments, and his place in HUB’s community. Martin, no matter where cycling takes you, and no matter what jersey you're wearing, you'll always be a member of HUB. We are excited to follow your next chapter!

Once a HUB rider, always part of the HUB family. Congratulations, Martin!
