Lead, mentor, and ride with HUB
HUB Youth Cycling runs camps and trips that get kids on bikes, out on the trails, and growing in confidence. Our Counselors and Counselors-in-Training (CITs) are the heart of that — the role models who keep riders safe, supported, and smiling. If you love riding and love helping young people find that same joy, we'd love to have you on the crew.
Counselors
Experienced helpers who support our coaches at camps and on trips — guiding riders on the trail, modeling safety and good sportsmanship, and making sure every kid has a great day. Counselors are dependable, encouraging, and comfortable around young riders of all abilities.
Counselors-in-Training (CITs)
Our next generation of leaders. CITs are typically younger and learning the ropes — shadowing counselors and coaches, building leadership and communication skills, and growing into a counselor role over time. It's a mentored, supported pathway, and a great first step for teens who love the sport.
Who should apply
- You enjoy mountain biking or the outdoors — you don't have to be a pro, all experience levels are welcome.
- You're great with kids: patient, encouraging, and a good role model.
- You're reliable and safety-minded, and you follow through on a commitment.
- You want to give back, build leadership skills, and be part of a community.
What to expect
- Training & orientation — HUB sets every counselor and CIT up for success with guidance on safety, coaching young riders, and how our camps and trips run. [HUB: confirm training format]
- Safety first — we do equipment and bike safety checks and ride within each group's ability. Your job is to help keep it safe and fun.
- A real pathway — CITs grow into Counselors; Counselors can take on more leadership across camps and trips.
- Commitment — [HUB: confirm time commitment, age minimums, volunteer vs paid, and any background-check requirements for adults]
🛡 A note for younger applicants and families: many of our CITs are teens, so for anyone under 18 we ask for a parent or guardian contact on the interest form. We'll always loop families in — this is a supported, mentored role.
